After the lightning hit our home, not once, but twice in one week. And not having any internet service, radio, telephone, or cable TV or any TV for that matter. I started creating new stuff. Through the hardship, I knew I had to keep my head up high and move forward. I kept thinking through every adversity there is something good. So I started looking for the seed to plant, the good, and it came. It felt good, I felt like a kid at a carnival and I guess it shows. I started looking upon my molds and used some old with some new and, well here they are and here’s their story.
Tilt-a-world ceramic dish. When I was a child, every year my moms job held a family day at Liberty Land, located in Memphis TN . And apart from being terrified from the roller coasters, which are now my favorite by the way. I loved the UFO ride. Of course now I can’t remember what it was called, but tilt-a-world comes to mind. You walk inside this huge UFO with flashing lights with loud rap music playing. Yeah, for some reason Liberty Land back in the 80’s, played rap music on all the rides. Then everyone stands against the red padded walls and once started the gravity would hold you there as this terrific ride would spin and tilt. It was so much fun, so I reinvented the fun with the animals of the forest.

Next we have the bunny on a stage, he’s ready to guess your age for one ticket. I meant for him to be a bell, and before I remembered, I had already bisque fired him and forgot to add the bell inside. He was made with a 1960’s bunny and he stands on top of a vintage dessert dish, which has this great geometrical shape. I then added hand molded pom pom balls around the edges to give it the real carnival feel.

And last we have the scalloped hem vase. I just love scalloped hems on clothes and on curtains and on the carnival tents. This vintage design vase just seems to say carnival to me so I played it up with a bright candy colored blue.

All these and more are available for sale over in my Etsy shop!

If you flashback to the seventies and look at what was hot, you may find a sad eyed hippo sitting on a shelf in someones favorite living space.
I’ve had this mold for quite sometime and was never happy with the way I was painting them. And then one day, this wonderful sad eyed collector, emailed me with a photo of a grey hippo and asked if I could do one as a custom order. So I took on the project and it was a challenge but so much fun! So here is results of the hippo I made for her. I think he come out so cute! So now I am addicted and am creating more of these guys every week.

So after I made her order, I immediately started on making more sad eyed hippos, in bright colors with those sad puppy dog eyes. I painted this one in chartreuse green with pink eyes. I think this is my favorite piece yet! This one has sold already, but I am taking pre-orders to do more in this color. Next up is one in orange with green eyes and one in yellow with orange eyes. I just painted the last coats of glaze this morning and they should be ready to list in the shop in the morning.

I’m back, it has been a few Mondays since my last post, but lightning struck our home and we lost pretty much everything. Including our fast speed internet and the worst loss, besides internet, phone and electric, was my limited edition, red sphere TV, from Target.

Boy am I going to miss it. I can’t seem to throw it out either. I guess i’m hoping I can bring it to a repair shop and they will be able to fix it. Am I dreaming or do you think it is possible?
Now that i’m back online and caught up with the business, I will have some free time to work on that networking list. So i’ll see ya in a bit!

Since the move, almost one year ago, I have been without internet connection. Well, you may as well say without because what we had, you couldn’t even connect with the world. My old ISP, I like to call frustrationdotnet, gave us speeds of up to 12k and lots of down time. Pretty much all I could do was check email, and that would take 10 minutes. There were lots of days with panic, not being able to print shipping labels or email customers for my business. When I could print labels it would take 30 minutes to print one label from Paypal. So basically task that used to take 1 minute were taking too long and taking over my life. I even added up a few statistics one day while waiting for the page to load. I figured out, that out of 5 hours a day of being online with frustrationdotnet service, that in one year, I would have wasted one and a half months of my life. Now add that with the months of life we spend sitting at traffic lights each year and it gets pretty scary. It was overwhelming and it is gone now! I am so grateful to have fast speed!
Now that I am back, I am in full swing working on getting new products and information listed on my business blog over at Fruitflypie.com and working on reviewing some seriously cute handmade items, over at my other blog Makeitcute.com. I am double posting this on both blogs in-case you would like to read the other blog too.
Okay, i’m off to plunge into the world of networking again. I would love to see you all there. So I will be compiling a list of all the places I use to network and share them with you on Monday.

This candy dish was made using several vintage molds. The round sphere design is simple, yet unique. The bottom was made from a medium sized 1970’s planter, it has a nice globe shape that has a smaller foot toward the bottom. The lid was made from an old grease pot mold that had a plain basic knob. So, I cut the knob off and used a 1970’s owl macrame bead and attached it on top. This is a one of a kind piece, only available at Fruitfly Pie.

One of our neighbors beautiful chickens decided to lay her nest right beside our front door. We all had been seeing this chicken making a long run down the dirt road up to our place but didn’t think any thing of it until 3 days ago. I was making tofu inside and I kept hearing our dog Pickle bark. After a while I went outside to see why and there were 3 baby chicks on the ground! They were so cute and fuzzy yellow and they were peeping at their mother who was up above on the brick divider.
I picked them up and placed them back with mom and ran inside to get my camera to take picture.

We thought there were only 3 chicks, but then we found out there were 9! And three more eggs that have not hatched yet.

Hold you candy in style in this beautiful vintage style candy dish . With scalloped edge and tulip design, this dish makes an incredible center piece for your home or office. Would also be perfect as a planter or knick-knack catch all as well.

Swans! They are so graceful and beautiful. This swan was made from an old seventies mold. I am loving the whimsical detail in the feathers and the elegant posture of this planter. Painted in a solid white to give it the original vintage feel, this pot is ready to hold your favorite plants and bring beauty to your favorite space.
