Baby Chicks!

March 16th, 2008

One of our neighbors beautiful chickens decided to lay her nest right beside our front door. We all had been seeing this chicken making a long run down the dirt road up to our place but didn’t think any thing of it until 3 days ago. I was making tofu inside and I kept hearing our dog Pickle bark.  After a while I went outside to see why and there were 3 baby chicks on the ground! They were so cute and fuzzy yellow and they were peeping at their mother who was up above on the brick divider.

I picked them up and placed them back with mom and ran inside to get my camera to take picture.

We thought there were only 3 chicks, but then we found out there were 9! And three more eggs that have not hatched yet.

Thanks! I love them so, they all live behind our house in this huge fluffy pine tree and have grown into some beautiful chickens. One is a rooster that is my favorite of all. He is solid yellow and so huge and cute with his little red rooster bangs, he is gorgeous. He sits on a log most of the day and we rarely ever hear him cocka-doodle-dooing.
